Shiny Apps allow users to interface with data! In this CLT practice, I use data from tidycensus for Indiana to demonstrate how the Central Limit Theorem works.

Student Evaluations

Finance and Inequality

“This class was a great mixture of finance and humanities. The financial terms were thoroughly explained, and most of the class participated in the readings. This class can apply to everyday life, even if you have no interest in finance. I learned a lot about credit and loans that I can use to build on my knowledge in the future.”

“This genuinely has been one of my favorite classes at Northwestern! Primarily because of Kathy and her kindness and understanding. She was extremely understanding to absences and extensions, and also made a great effort of taking student feedback which I really appreciated. The midterm and final paper allowed for a lot of creative freedom to discuss topics that you actually enjoyed from the course. I came into this class knowing nothing about economics/finance and definitely can say I’ve learned so much!”

Legal Studies Research Methods

“Kathy was one of the best TA’s I’ve ever had! She gave so much helpful feedback on every assignment and was always enthusiastic about helping. I really appreciated how much she cared.”

“Kathy was extremely helpful and attentive. I had many questions about how to finish my research project and she always emailed back right away answering my questions. I also met with her many times, which was very helpful. Overall, she was a fantastic TA.”

Categorical Regression (Graduate)

“Kathy was truly amazing! The labs she led were always so clear and helped me understand concepts more fully, especially how different concepts related to one another. She was always available for questions, often knew the answer immediately, or would be honest if she didn’t, but then would go do the research and get back to you with a clear answer. Very thankful for her help!”

“Kathy is a stellar instructor. She was incredibly helpful both in lab and outside of class. She is patient and communicates ideas clearly and at the correct pace.”
